December Volunteer Opportunities

This year's Scholastic Book Fair will be from December 13-20. We will need parent volunteers during the school day from December 16-20, as well as for parent shopping hours (Friday, December 13 5-6 pm and Thursday, December 19 2:40-5:30PM).

How does the Scholastic Book Fair support the school?

First and foremost, the the fair promotes a love of reading and gives kids a chance to pick out their own reading material. Second, the school receives Scholastic Dollars from the fair, which it then uses to purchase books for classroom libraries. Last year Shuang Wen purchased more than $3000 worth of books using Scholastic Dollars from the book fair!

ONGOING Volunteer Opportunities

Updated August 2024: Class Reps

Class/grade representatives are parent or guardian volunteers who are responsible for: sending out targeted communications to other parents; fostering connections between families in the same class or grade; and organizing gifts/cards to show families' appreciation to teachers.

Seeking ⁠⁠volunteers to run a story time or other library-related activity in the library, e.g. public speaking, book-making, creative writing, illustration, or theater (performance).  Activities will be specific to an age or grade range.

Both bilingual and monolingual (English/Mandarin/Cantonese only) activities are welcome.
